I LOVE Jamaica but 'Today I chose violence' [apparently] 😄
First off we need to say Jamaica has been killing it all 2020/2021:
- Providing ample travel opportunities during the last 18 months of the pandemic
- Celebrated their Independence day in front of the world winning Gold in the 4 x 100m in the Tokyo Olympics
- Breaking Flo Jo's world record after 30+years [insert you did the damn thang stank face here]

It is just one of the reasons Jamaica won our Flags of the Caribbean challenge in June! Jamaican's are proud people. PROUD PEOPLE!!
My Brothers, grand mother was Jamaican. [Oh stop it, you know we have families full of sister's mother, and brother's fathers and my brother's aunty's dogs breeder's cousin, and them. Ehhh-hem, back to my story] We'd go to Nana's house and list to the stories and wait outside the bathroom trying to inhale her very fragrant smoking habits. In the middle of her story, Nana's voice got louder, and stronger and you'd know beyond anything taught in school, that this part here was not to be messed with. This strong part of the conversation, she felt in her soul and to question it was to choose violence.
Today, I chose violence.
Have you heard the claim that Jamaica is the only country in the world whose flag does not contain the colors of red, white or blue?
Well, Take a look at the colors in the Jamaican flag. They are majestic, representing the people, the land and the sun that rises daily kissing the skin of everyone it touches. Hold on, I'm in the middle of a deep breath, I hear the ocean...now, now I'm back with the sound of construction in NYC. [insert the same stank face from above for a whole new reason] 😄
Well. Truth is there is another country in this club. Ooooh, I can hear the teeth sucking and kissing now. Maybe I should duck, but not yet.
The Flag Claim is False.
Yes I said it. Jamaica is not the only flag that does not use red, white or blue. Sri Lanka is also in this club. Sri Lanka is a small Island Country off the southeast coast of India. Their flag colors are Gold, Maroon, Green and Saffron. No, Maroon is not red. Argue with ya momma on that one.
As an avid traveler it is important that we get these details right. Its also important that we give Jamaica their due. Happy Independence day to all my Jamaican Brothers and Sisters.
